Mark J. Woyshville
Dr. Woyshville performs therapeutic development phases II through IV, with a special emphasis on neuropsychiatric, psychiatric, addiction, pain, and sleep indications. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventative Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Woyshville earned his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1989. He served an Internship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio focused on Psychiatry, Neurology, and General Medicine. He was then a Psychiatric Resident at the University of California, San Diego, followed by his return to Cleveland and Case – Western Reserve University (CWRU), where he was a Research Fellow in the Mood Disorders Program.
Appointed to the Faculty at CWRU at the Assistant Professor level, Dr. Woyshville honed his skills as a clinician researcher. He founded the Clinical Drug Trials Unit within the Mood Disorders Program; he was also a founding physician of the Psychiatric Partial Hospital Program, and Outpatient Electroconvulsive Therapy Program, while serving as an Attending Psychiatrist on the Mood Disorders inpatient treatment unit.
Subsequent to his academic tenure, Dr. Woyshville affiliated with a variety of institutional and community-based treatment settings, as well as providing forensic and independent medical evaluations for public and private agencies. He is currently the team psychiatrist for the Cuyahoga county FIRST initiative, a collaborative effort under the aegis of Northeast Ohio Medical University to intervene definitively in first-episode psychosis. He is also the Medical Director of the Acadia Cleveland Treatment Center, a multi-modality opiate rehabilitation program, with a particular emphasis on methadone maintenance therapy. He is a consultant to the State Medical Board of Ohio, evaluating petitions to add new indications under the state medical marijuana program, and is licensed to recommend medical marijuana. He has served the incarcerated mentally ill within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. He has maintained a private psychiatric practice throughout, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of professionals, and clergy and religious personnel. Throughout, he was continuously involved in clinical research, co-founding the Cleveland Neuro-Sleep Research Institute while developing his interest in Sleep Medicine, ultimately founding North Star Medical Research, LLC.
Dr. Woyshville continues his efforts to bring cutting-edge research and clinical technologies to patients and pharmaceutical development sponsors alike, by adding the capacity to perform infusion studies and, presently, transcranial magnetic stimulation.
